Evaluation of physiological and electrocardiographic parameters of horses submitted to diagnostic palpation and acupuncture

Seven gelding horses were evaluated in three stages from October to December 2023 in three stages. The stages were at rest, 10 min after the end of controlled exercise on a trot guide for 10 min, and after the acupuncture session. The reactivity of the diagnostic acupuncture points was evaluated by palpating the 14 meridians in each animal, with 41 different reactive acupoints throughout the study. Doppler echocardiography was performed to evaluate cardiac morphology before the start of the search. Electrocardiographic tests were performed throughout the study to evaluate and measure the data. A decreased P-wave value was noted after acupuncture, in addition to heart and respiratory rates that, after the acupuncture session, were close to the values obtained with the animals at rest. Therefore, a correlation was identified between acupuncture and the reduction in P-wave values on electrocardiography.
