NAVIGATING RENAL STONES: FLUOROSCOPY VERSUS ULTRASOUND N LITHOTRIPSY

Currently, shockwave lithotripsy (SWL) continues to be a well-estabilished treatment modality for renal stones. For better accuracy of the shock waves, SWL is performed by ultrasound (US) or fluoroscopy (FS) to focus shock waves on stones. Therefore, we aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing US versus FL in terms of efficacy and safety outcomes in patients with renal stones. We searched Pubmed, Embase and Cochrane for studies comparing US and FL in shock wave lithotripsy for renal stones.Outcomes of interest were stone-free rate, complications, number of sessions and addiotional treatment.Subgroup analysis was performed with pediatric population and adult population.Statistical analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4.Heterogeneity was assessed with I2 statistics.
