Designing an Interactive Book as Weaning Food Social Media Campaign

Infants over 6 months need nutrients from weaning food. Unfortunately, there are problems found amongst Indonesian mothers about weaning food knowledge. Those problems are mostly because of mothers’ lack of knowledge, old wive’s tales, and misinformation spread through social media. Based on those problems, a mobile app for weaning food is designed. The mobile app is chosen because it is commonly owned and easier to access. The design thinking method is used in the process. First, empathizing is understanding Indonesian first-time mothers’ needs. Then, define is collecting and analyzing the majority of first-time mothers behavior and needs. Ideate is creating concept which is encouraging for first-time mothers. This concept includes designing and dictions. Next, prototype is assembling all of the assets and creating prototype using figma. Finally, test is testing the mobile app design to First-time mothers. After doing first prototype test, first-time mothers expressed that the mobile app requires further designing process to make it more appealing to use. Then, another developing process is done by adding extra baby illustrations, improving the dictions, and redesigning the menu layouts. Following that, second test is proceeded which resulted in better understanding of the app by first-time mothers. Although, they still found few difficulties when using the app caused by unfamiliarity which can be resolved by tutorials.
