Forensic Toxicology Analysis of MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine): A Systematic Literature Review
MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) or commonly known as ecstasy is a semisynthetic compound derived from amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS). The positive cognitive effects of MDMA in controlled clinical settings lead to improved mood and well-being, happiness, relaxation (physical and mental), increased emotional sensitivity and responsiveness, increased openness, extraversion and sociability, empathy, small changes in perception, and overwhelming anti-anxiety. This writing aims to conduct a literature review related to forensic toxicology analysis on MDMA. The method used in this writing is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Data collection is done by searching for all articles that have similar research in this SLR writing. The articles used in this study were 10 journal articles from research databases on Google Scholar and Science Direct. Based on this literature review, it was found that forensic toxicology analysis to identify MDMA drugs can be done by screening and confirmation tests with samples used in the form of biological fluids, components of body parts, and products from MDMA. Positive results are obtained on MDMA analysis based on applicable standard procedures and scientifically validated.
