The Current Situation, Causes and Coping Strategies of “Fear of Childbirth” among Young Women

In the context of the current social transformation and demographic changes, the phenomenon of young women’s fear of childbirth has become increasingly prominent, becoming an important issue affecting the sustainable development of the population and social harmony. This article systematically sorts out the conceptual definition, research methods and current status of fear of childbirth, and analyzes its causes from multiple dimensions such as physiology, psychology, and social culture. Studies have shown that fear of childbirth is the result of the combined effect of multiple factors, including physiological factors such as labor pain and health risks, psychological factors such as personality traits and the influence of social media, and social and cultural factors such as the conflict between traditional gender roles and modern career development, economic pressure and lack of social support. In order to alleviate the fear of childbirth among young women, this article proposes comprehensive countermeasures such as strengthening the construction of social support systems, improving fertility policies, popularizing scientific fertility knowledge, promoting gender equality culture, and providing psychological intervention. Future research needs to pay more attention to group differences, dynamic change mechanisms, and cross-cultural comparisons, in order to provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for building a fertility-friendly society.
