Research on the Current Situation, Causes, and Countermeasures of College Students’ Procrastination Behavior: A Case Study of Jiangsu University

Against the backdrop of the popularization of higher education and intensifying social pressures, the high prevalence of procrastination behavior among college students and its adverse effects on academic performance and mental health have become increasingly prominent, necessitating systematic investigation into its causes and intervention strategies. This study integrates domestic and international literature to construct a multidimensional analytical framework, revealing the mechanisms underlying procrastination behavior from dual perspectives of selfregulation mechanisms and external environmental factors. Based on this framework, a systematic intervention scheme is proposed, encompassing psychological cognition interventions, time management optimization, technology dependency management, and exercise behavior regulation. The research not only advances theoretical understanding of college students’ procrastination behavior but also provides actionable insights for university educational administrations and mental health services to develop targeted intervention strategies. Future studies should focus on cross-cultural differences in behavioral mechanisms and long-term efficacy evaluations of intervention approaches.
