Breeding value and ranking evaluation of sires of different genealogical lines
The livestock population in Russia in breeding farms is currently represented by highly productive off spring of genealogical lines of Holstein breed. The purpose of the research was to characterize the breeding value and make a ranking avaluation of sires of different genealogical lines belonging. The results of evaluation the productive traits of cows of Holstein breeds of the genealogical lines Wes Back Ideal 1013415, Pabst Governor 889233, Montvic Chieftain 95679 and Refl ection Sovereign 198998 have been provided in the article. The research were carried out in the herd of Selkhozprodukty LLC in the Moscow region, where high milk productivity of daughters of sires belonging to different genealogical lines was established, which made it possible to give a high level of assessment of the work of specialists, as well as to use their experience in further selection work in improving the quantitative and qualitative indicators of cows. For example, in the line Wes Back Ideal 1013415 the best traits of milk productivity for 305 days of the fi rst lactation were revealed in the daughters of the sire Lincoln-M 50330431, who had a milk yieldof 8388 kg of milk. Among the cows-daughters of different sires of this line, the best mass fraction of fat in milk was shown by the daughters of the sire Frodo-M 107359093 – 5.52 %, which indicated the high breeding value of this sire. The ranking evaluation made it possible to determine the realized potential of sires by the indicators of milk productivity traits of their daughters for the first lactation. A certain rank of sires was established by the realized potential of milk productivity of daughters, which made it possible to determine a certain place for each sire, according to the result of which the use of a particular sire will be aimed at improving the traits of milk productivity in the herd.
