Solar-hydraulic hybrid propulsion system: A novel multi-source energy architecture for automotive applications
This paper presents a novel automotive propulsion system that integrates solar photovoltaic energy collection, hydraulic energy storage, and conventional internal combustion engines to create a high- efficiency, high-torque vehicle platform. The system leverages existing high-pressure storage technologies proven in CNG, LPG, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to store hydraulic energy at pressures up to 300 bar. Performance modeling indicates potential torque improvements of 300-500% over conventional drivetrains while maintaining fuel flexibility and extending operational range through continuous solar charging. The research demonstrates feasibility using commercially available components and established automotive safety standards.
