Intraneural perineurioma - Masquerading as Hansen’s disease
ABSTRACT Intraneural perineurioma is a rare benign nerve sheath tumour, and an under-recognised cause of hypertrophic neuropathy. Although the common causes of thickened peripheral nerves include leprosy, hereditary and immune mediated inflammatory causes, clinicians and pathologists should be well aware of this entity for accurate diagnosis and thereby optimal patient care. This case involves a 44-year-old male with clinical presentation similar to Hansen’s neuritis. In the era of molecular diagnosis, histopathology remains the cornerstone in diagnosing this rare entity.
