Nevus lipomatosus: A rare case report

ABSTRACT Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (NLCS) is an uncommon nevoid anomaly characterised by mature adipocyte proliferation in the dermis. We report a unique case of a solitary variant of NLCS that presented in adulthood in a 53-year-old female with a clinical suspicion of papilloma. In this case, we highlight the morphological and histological features of the solitary form of nevus lipomatosus. Histopathological examination revealed the proliferation of mature adipocytes intervening with the fibrocollagenous tissue reaching up to the papillary dermis. This finding is principal in the diagnosis of NLCS and in differentiating from various other skin conditions. We intend to report this case to familiarise these rare hamartomatous conditions.
