OPTIMIZING HOUSEHOLD ENERGY SUPPLY IN BAHIR DAR, ETHIOPIA: A FUZZY LOGIC APPROACH TO HYBRID RENEWABLE POWER SYSTEMS

This study presents a fuzzy logic approach to optimizing household energy supply in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, focusing on hybrid renewable power systems. Addressing the pressing challenges of energy access, reliability, and sustainability in developing regions, the research proposes an intelligent control strategy to efficiently manage power flow from diverse renewable sources, including solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy, integrated with battery storage and grid connection. The fuzzy logic controller is designed to handle the inherent uncertainties and non-linearities associated with renewable energy generation and household demand, aiming to minimize reliance on the national grid, reduce energy costs, and enhance system stability. Through a comprehensive simulation framework, the performance of the fuzzy logic-based hybrid system is evaluated under varying load profiles and environmental conditions specific to Bahir Dar. The findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in achieving optimal energy dispatch, improving system autonomy, and contributing to a more sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure for households in the region.
