DESECULARIZATION IN MODERN KYRGYZSTAN: ISLAMIZATION OF SOCIETY

The article examines the trends of the gradual growth of the influence of Islam on public life in Kyrgyzstan. The phenomena and processes occurring in the socio-political and cultural aspects of the modern society of Kyrgyzstan are analyzed. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the acquisition of independence of the Kyrgyzstan, the violent policy of secularization of the Soviet government was replaced by something directly opposite to desecularization – the Islamization of society takes place. Despite the fact that the Kyrgyzstan is a secular state according to the constitution, the revival and expansion of the influence of Islam on all spheres of life of Kyrgyz society is becoming obvious. The theoretical basis of the research is based on the works of foreign representatives of the theory of secularization (P.L. Berger, V. Karpov), as well as on the publications of modern Russian and post-Soviet authors. The work uses the author's analytical method «refusal – preference», which is also its scientific novelty. The method makes it possible to identify the anti-secularization reaction of society to previous or current secularization processes in Kyrgyzstan.
