WATER PROBLEMS UNDER THE USSR AND NOWADAYS

The article is dedicated to the consideration and analysis of historical facts related to water resources not only in Central Asia, but also throughout the world. The problems of shortage of drinking water, melting glaciers, drying up of lakes, and climate change on a global scale have been on the main agendas at the main platforms of the UN for many years as the main threats. Water problems also occurred during the Soviet regime. If do not begin to solve the water problem today, tomorrow it will be too late. We are witnessing how conflicts are already occurring in the world over water, which are escalating into armed clashes, riots, rallies, protests and others. Unfortunately, such phenomena occur not overseas, but before our eyes in Kyrgyzstan, and throughout Central Asia. We believe that today in the water sector there is a great demand for improving the quality of knowledge of hydro-specialists and the assistance of the Institute of Water Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
