Factors Determining a Sustainable Model for the Rehabilitation of Post-World War Ii Multifamily Residential Buildings

Being the subject of many studies, post-Second World War multifamily buildings are mostly associated with the development of processes that have negative effects, both directly on their occupants and on the urban area in which they are located. The social and economic importance of these buildings, stemming from their large number and mass distribution, makes it necessary to find approaches that, on the one hand, provide a complete solution to their problems and, on the other hand, ensure their adaptation to contemporary requirements, mostly linked to the objectives of sustainable development. Based on the “life cycle approach” as a method for assessing sustainable development, the present paper examines the possibilities for extending the service life of the buildings considered.
