Control of the Plug-In Hybrid Power Unit of DEMU

The aim of the article is to study the conditions for the use of a plug-in hybrid power plant on diesel-electric motor-car rolling stock. The use of energy storage devices on motor-car rolling stock reduces fuel consumption and harmful emissions, for which various strategies are used to control energy storage devices and diesel generators. Based on the analysis of publications on the management of energy storage devices on rolling stock, the use of the concept of ‘equivalent cost per kilowatt-hour of energy’ to determine the priority power source is proposed. On the basis of the proposed concept, the control of a plug-in hybrid power plant of a diesel train when charging the storage device from a diesel generator and a stationary source is substantiated. A method for estimating the storage capacity using the concept of ‘equivalent cost per kilowatt-hour of energy’ is proposed. Algorithms for controlling a plug-in hybrid power plant in acceleration, acceleration and parking modes of a diesel train are analysed and proposed.
