Abstract 1121 Vanillin improves metabolic disturbances linked to diabetic cardiomyopathy in cardiac tissues of Fructose-STZ induced type 2 diabetic rats
Diabetes cardiomyopathy is a common comorbid condition of type 2 diabetes (T2D), which significantly increases mortality rate of T2D. Over the years, natural compounds such as the polyphenolics have been continually explored in managing several diseases, including diabetes and its complications, due to their characteristic health promoting properties, lesser side effects and ease of accessibility. The study aimed to evaluate the cardioprotective effect of vanillin on cardiac tissues of fructose-streptozotocin induced type 2 diabetic rats.
