Abstract 2435 Understanding NAD+ Metabolism in Rhodotorula toruloides to Enhance Biofuel and Bioproduct Synthesis
In the fight against climate change, alternative fuel sources are essential to reduce carbon emissions. Biofuels offer a promising path toward carbon neutrality, but those derived from crops require significant resources, space, and time. Oleaginous yeasts, such as Rhodotorula toruloides, provide an excellent alternative due to their ability to produce high levels of lipids, sugar alcohols, and fatty alcohols. R. toruloides is particularly advantageous, producing three times the lipid content of other oleaginous yeasts.
