Abstract 1352 Characterization of two HAP1 homologs, HAP1A and HAP1B, within Candida glabrata under azole and hypoxic conditions
Candida glabrata is an opportunistic pathogenic fungus with an innate resistance to azole antifungal drugs. As of 2023, the World Health Organization deemed C. glabrata as a high-priority group. C. glabrata is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that can infect the mucosal and bloodstream of immunocompromised patients. Azole antifungal drugs are one of the major classes of antifungal drugs used to treat Candida infections and work by targeting the synthesis of ergosterol, which is a vital part of the fungal cell membrane, and impedes its biosynthesis.
