Abstract 1470 Role of NUDT8 in brown adipose tissue thermogenesis

Coenzyme A (CoA) is an essential cofactor that plays a pivotal role in energy metabolism, participating in a multitude of metabolic reactions, including those involved in fatty acid and glucose oxidation, the TCA cycle, and ketogenesis. At the tissue level, the concentration of total CoA (free CoA plus acyl-CoAs) is tightly regulated and dynamically adjusted in response to changes in the nutritional state and energy demand. This regulation is achieved by balancing de novo CoA synthesis and (acyl-)CoA degradation, and its importance is underscored by the fact that loss of CoA regulation is associated with metabolic inflexibility and other deleterious metabolic consequences.
