Abstract 1708 Student Perspectives on AI in Higher Education: Insights from Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Classrooms

Artificial intelligence (AI) and its impacts are transforming higher education faster than faculty and institutions are adapting to this new tool. As we embrace AI and its transformative potential, it is important to gain students' perspectives on the use of AI to understand its impact on education and shape its integration effectively. Here, we report student perspectives from upper-level biochemistry courses on how AI tools influence their learning. We employed Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory approach to explore and understand student perspectives on using AI in higher education.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) and its impacts are transforming higher education faster than faculty and institutions are adapting to this new tool. As we embrace AI and its transformative potential, it is important to gain students' perspectives on the use of AI to understand its impact on education and shape its integration effectively. Here, we report student perspectives from upper-level biochemistry courses on how AI tools influence their learning. We employed Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory approach to explore and understand student perspectives on using AI in higher education.
