Abstract 1441 Modeling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Using Motor Neurons Derived from Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSCs) with FUS Mutations
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder marked by the degeneration of motor neurons. Mutations in the FUS (Fused in Sarcoma) protein, particularly P525L and R521G, are associated with familial cases of ALS. Since direct access to human neural tissue is limited, generating motor neurons from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) provides a valuable model for studying ALS. This study aimed to develop MNs from hiPSCs harboring FUS mutations and compare their viability with healthy hiPSC-derived MNs.
