Abstract 1762 Will It Bind? An AlphaFold3-Guided Investigation of the ATP-Binding Site of 5-Lipoxygenase
With the advent of artificial-intelligence (AI) employed for protein-structure prediction, the workflow has quickly shifted for structural biology. The opportunities for investigating macromolecules with their binding partners and the conformational changes that occur upon binding have been expedited by AI. This includes human 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), which is a transient, peripheral-membrane protein that initiates the production of the pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. Earlier research has shown that 5-LOX binds ATP allosterically and non-canonically with the binding site not yet elucidated.
