Abstract 2104 Pharmacological mobilization of mitochondrial chaperones and its implication in mitochondrial biogenesis
Mitochondrial genome plays a central role in assuring production of ATP and meeting energetic requirements of the cell. Because of this critical role, numerous human neuromuscular or metabolic disorders are associated with instability of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). We have recently observed that overexpression of mitochondrial chaperone factors promoted quantitative and qualitative condition of mtDNA. This indicates that mobilization of mitochondrial chaperones could be a potential avenue for therapeutic interventions in the mtDNA associated disorders.
