Abstract 1920 Bead-based Aptamer Selection using N71 Pool Targeting Calf Intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase (CIAP) For New Diagnostic Methods of Stroke
Stroke affects approximately 795,000 individuals annually in the United States and remains a leading cause of long-term disability and brain damage. Prompt diagnosis and treatment within three hours of onset significantly reduce the risk of permanent disabilities compared to delayed care. However, socioeconomic and racial disparities contribute to higher stroke incidence in low-income and minority populations, with African Americans facing a 50% greater risk than their White counterparts. In low-income areas where access to brain imaging technology is limited, a diagnostic test for stroke is needed to identify strokes from stroke mimics, such as seizures and metabolic disorders, and differentiate between hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.
