Abstract 2870 Integrating Career and Immigration Planning for International Scholars
On average, 57% of postdocs and 30% of graduate students are temporary visa holders. Of these, around 75% aspire to fulfill their professional goals in the United States. Since career and immigration decisions are intimately related, international scholars must plan a long-term career while navigating the U.S. immigration system. Despite the increase in professional development programs for diverse career pathways, institutional career and professional development services generally treat all trainees uniformly, overlooking the unique challenges faced by international scholars.
