Abstract 3066 Imposter syndrome and being the “other” as a systems biologist
Pursuing science as a profession can lead to an exciting and rewardingcareer. However for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, or thoseworking across disciplinary boundaries, it can evoke intermittent or persistentfeelings of self-doubt, inadequacy, and isolation. In this talk, I share my journey as asystems biologist and explore how imposter syndrome has shaped, challenged, andultimately deepened my relationship with science. Drawing from my ownexperiences across academia and industry, I will examine how interdisciplinarywork, cultural identity, and systemic underrepresentation intersect to create a senseof being “the other”, even amid supportive colleagues and success.
