Abstract 2633 CMG2-Binding Collagen VI Peptide Fragments as Potential Angiogenesis Inhibitors

Pathological angiogenesis plays a critical role in various ocular pathologies, often leading to severe side effects including blindness. While anti-VEGF therapies have shown some efficacy, their long-term impact remains limited, highlighting the urgent need for novel anti-angiogenic therapies. Our research focuses on capillary morphogenesis gene 2 (CMG2), an integrin-like cell surface receptor significantly upregulated during angiogenesis. Previous studies have demonstrated the essential role for CMG2 in a neovascularization mouse model by inhibiting endothelial cell chemotaxis, making it a promising target for developing anti-angiogenic therapies for ocular and other pathologies.
