Abstract 2139 Differential Protein Stability of Schlafen 8 Isoforms 1 and 2
Our laboratory identified the type I interferon-induced protein Schlafen (SLFN) 11 as a restriction factor of West Nile Virus replication. We are now investigating whether this antiviral activity is conserved in the mouse ortholog, Slfn8. To address this, we transiently co-transfected HEK 293T cells with plasmids expressing C-terminal Flag-tagged versions of Slfn8 isoforms 1 and 2, along with a plasmid encoding cyan fluorescent protein (CFP). CFP served as a control for transfection efficiency. Transfected cells were analyzed by immunoblot to confirm Schlafen protein expression.
