Abstract 2280 RNA-seq Analysis of Serum Starvation in H. pylori
Helicobacter pylori is a microaerophilic, Gram-negative bacterium that can infect the surface of the Human gastric epithelium. It is reported that about 50% of the human population is infected with this bacterium. Infection of this bacterium has shown to increase the risk for symptoms such as gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric cancer. During infection, H. pylori must overcome the harsh environment presented by the human stomach. Amongst these environmental stresses, H. pylori experience nutrient starvation inducing the stringent response.
