Abstract 2378 Beta-Galactosidase-Triggered Photoactivatable BOPIDY-Fullerene Dyad Senolytic
Recent advances in healthcare have extended lifespans, but concerns regarding health span remain a pressing issue. Addressing this disparity is a primary focus of anti-aging research. One approach involves developing senolytics, compounds that selectively eliminate senescent cells. Senolytics achieve their specificity by targeting β-galactosidase, a universal marker of senescence, which enzymatically cleaves β-galactose residues which exhibit increased expression in senescent cells. Nanoparticle-based approaches are particularly promising due to their modular design, high drug-loading capacity, and unique physical and chemical properties.
