Abstract 2044 Screening for Inhibitors of Pyruvate Carboxylase
Small molecule inhibitors of pyruvate carboxylase (PC) have great potential as molecular probes and therapeutic agents for cancer and type-2 diabetes. Previous efforts to screen for small molecule inhibitors of PC were performed against Staphylococcus aureus PC. However, small molecule inhibitors with potent inhibitory activity against S. aureus PC (SaPC) were ineffective when tested in human cell lines. This study seeks to determine the specific factors that may have contributed to the lack of inhibition against human cell lines.
