Abstract 2260 Identification and Validation of Gene Fusions in Mantle Cell Lymphoma
Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) is an aggressive, rare type of malignancy and has the worst prognosis out of all B-cell lymphomas. With there being no standard effective therapy, survival ranges from less than a year to six years with a median survival rate of around 3 years. About 85-95% of MCL is characterized by a genetic translocation that is typically not seen in B-cell lymphoma. This translocation turns on cyclin D1 expression in the G1 phase of the cell cycle. This leads to uncontrolled cell proliferation.
