Abstract 1271 Evaluation of Iron Chelating and Antioxidant Potential of Justicia spicigera and Potentilla indica in Wistar Rats with Iron Overload

Iron overload is a group of heterogeneous diseases that can be hereditary or acquired, characterized by an excessive accumulation of iron in the body. This is associated with an increase in the generation of free radicals, leading to cell death and related to the development of severe complications in vital organs. Material and methods The plants were collected, dried at room temperature, and ground into a fine powder. Subsequently, the extract was obtained with ethanol maceration (10 mL of 96% ethanol per gram of plant powder) at 4°C for 5 days.
