Instrumento de luta por justiça ambiental em territórios pesqueiros:
This paper aims to share the participatory construction process of the consultation protocol for the traditional community of Várzea, in São José do Norte, Brazil, with the intent of contributing to and supporting future construction experiences. The protocol is a document aimed at protecting Traditional Peoples and Communities (PCTs) to ensure the safeguarding of their fundamental and territorial rights. This document was requested by the traditional community of Várzea in 2023, during the "1st Integrated Socio-environmental Seminar of the Lagoa dos Patos Territory (I SSITLP)," to defend themselves against mega mining and wind energy projects targeting their territory. The construction of the protocol was led by the community, with technical and financial support from the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), through a dialogue of knowledge approach. To this end, five meetings were held, with the first dedicated to presenting the concept of the protocol to the community, as well as organizing workshops and a mobilization strategy. Subsequently, four community workshops were conducted to draft and approve the final document, which was systematized by the technical team assisting the community. The activities took place between November 2023 and April 2024, culminating in the submission of the document to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office and its dissemination on social media.
