Abstract 1011 Pulcherriminic acid is a signal involved in gene regulation in Bacillus subtilis biofilms
Biofilms are ubiquitous in nature and represent a key adaptive behavior among bacteria in response to environmental changes. They consist of bacterial aggregates enveloped in a self-produced extracellular matrix that attaches to various surfaces and provides protection against external threats. In agricultural settings, biofilms can be advantageous as they function as a protective barrier on plants, shielding them from pathogenic bacteria while also promoting plant growth. Studying biofilms is therefore crucial to develop novel bacterial-based methods for preserving crops and enhancing agricultural productivity, which is especially important in the face of climate change.
