Abstract 1553 Investigating Faculty Workload at PUI Institutions through a National Survey
Faculty at Predominantly Undergraduate Institutions (PUIs) are responsible for numerous activities including teaching, service, and research. The time spent on these endeavors, and the benchmarks and requirements (teaching load, release time, publication requirements) vary within institutions. Post pandemic, with budget cuts at many institutions and shifting student backgrounds with regard to prior course material, what does workload look like for life science faculty at PUIs, both public and private? We seek to gather data to understand faculty workload, specifically how research expectations are balanced with teaching.
