Author: Kevin Bai, Jasper Booth, Brady Dolan, Liam Dolan, Arafan Doumbouya, Brody Marchlewicz, Jaya Sequeir Thacker, Will Trainor, Hayden Vermeij Teacher: Mr. James Greig Toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, which has infected over 30% of the world's population. Entering the body's dendritic cells (DC), it creates its own vacuole and uses the DC as its primary source of locomotion. In its own vacuole, T. gondii secretes the protein GRA24, which binds to a mitogen-activated protein kinase, MAPK14 (p38-alpha) in the DC.
