Abstract 3062 Rethinking mentoring to cultivate a mentoring network: Moving from “mentor” to “mentors”
The value of effective mentoring is well established: mentoring can build resiliency and adaptability, increase employee retention and career satisfaction, mitigate burnout, and result in cost savings. In academia, mentees with active mentors have better research careers, increased scholarly productivity, move more quickly through the promotion process, and possess greater self-confidence. Learning to discern various types of mentoring needs, which will change and evolve over the course of one's career, provides a framework through which to build a mentor network.
