Abstract 2134 Further Studies on Effects of FSH–Blocking Antibody in Preventing Osteoporosis, Obesity and Alzheimer's Disease
There is increasing evidence that FSH is an actionable target for diseases affecting millions of women undergoing the menopausal transition, when serum FSH is high and estrogen is normal–notably, osteoporosis, obesity and mild cognitive impairment. We and others have shown that blocking FSH action, either pharmacologically or genetically, prevents bone loss, fat accrual, and Alzheimer's disease (AD–) like features, including memory loss, in mice [Sun et al., Cell, 2006, PMID: 16630814; Ji et al., PNAS, 2018, PMID: 29440419; Liu et al., Nature, 2017, PMID: 28538730; Xiong et al., Nature, 2022, PMID: 25236988].
