Abstract 1263 Editing the Genome of Escherichia albertii with CRISPR/Cas9
Escherichia albertii is a Gram-negative bacterium that was first described 20 years ago after being isolated from a patient with a gastrointestinal infection. Populations of children and elderly everywhere are especially susceptible to experiencing symptoms of E. albertii infection. Finding effective and quick ways to edit the genome of E. albertii can help advance our understanding of its virulence. Our goal is to determine if the CRISPR/Cas9 system, which has been used successfully in other Gram-negative bacteria including E.
