Abstract 2239 Evaluation of StarD6 Ligands via Molecular Docking Simulations and Differential Scanning Fluorimetry
The leading cause of dementia is Alzheimer's Disease (AD), a neurodegenerative disease that can be characterized by loss of memory and decreased cognitive and motor function in addition to the accumulation of b-amyloid plaques and tau tangles in the brain. Recent genome-wide association studies have suggested that a single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter region of STARD6 may be related to risk for developing AD, or StAR-related lipid transfer domain containing 6, is a protein expressed in the testes, ovaries, and brain regions such as the hippocampus.
