Abstract 2256 Anti-Cancer Activity of Naphthoquinone Derivatives in Human Prostate Cancer Cells (PC3)

Naphthoquinones are quinone derivatives present in nature and also as synthetic products. Naphthoquinone derivatives has shown potential as an anticancer agent against Human Prostate Cancer Cells (PC3), through decreased cell viability, cell cycle arrest, and induction of apoptosis. (Ribeiro et al, 2020). L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1), overexpressed in most cancer cells, transports essential amino acids into various cancerous cells including PC3. The transfer of amino acids via LAT1 activates the mTOR signaling pathway, which controls cell growth, proliferation, metabolism, and survival in cancerous cells.
