Abstract 2450 Adipocyte-specific β-catenin deletion reveals sex-based metabolic effects and crosstalk with stromal vascular cells in white adipose tissue

Our previous work demonstrated that the Wnt/β-catenin pathway plays a critical role in lipid metabolism in adipocytes differentiated in vitro from adipocyte precursors and in adipose tissue from mice fed a high-fat diet. Here, we further investigated the function of the pathway in adipose tissue from mice fed a standard chow diet. To achieve this, we generated adipocyte-specific β-catenin knockout mice (Ctnnb1AdKO) by crossing Ctnnb1-floxed mice (Ctnnb1fl/fl) with Adipoq-Cre mice. PCR confirmed efficient recombination exclusively in adipocytes, with β-catenin mRNA and protein levels reduced by approximately 75% in Ctnnb1AdKO adipocytes.
