Abstract 2623 Geminivirus infection may systemically downregulate Arabidopsis response regulator 7 expression in cellular regions surrounding plant vasculature to stimulate cytokinin-mediated growth conditions that support viral genome replication
Geminiviruses are plant-infecting viruses belonging to the family Geminiviridae. Virions contain mono- or bipartite circular, single-stranded DNA genomes. Transmission vectors include insects (whiteflies and others, depending on the virus), and infection can cause severe symptoms stunting plant growth and affecting fruit development leading to significant decreases in food production relied upon globally. Food crops most severely affected include tomato and cassava, with cassava being a staple food in Sub-Saharan Africa.
