Abstract 2625 Cadmium as an epigenetic disruptor in breast cancer by altering biomolecular condensates
Introduction Cadmium exposure can lead to the onset and development of breast cancer through epigenetic alterations, therefore acting as a relevant human health hazard. Our study aims to demonstrate that the tumor phenotype could be regulated by changes in the nucleolar topology and function under cadmium exposure through the loss of proteins involved in liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), a biophysical phenomenon that separates membraneless single liquid phases into multiple additional phases with particular regulatory functions.
