Abstract 2012 An unexpected PPARγ interacting protein that divides adiposity and energy-dependent mechanisms
Rosiglitazone (Rosi) is an insulin sensitizer in the thiazolidinediones (TZDs) class used to treat type 2 diabetes. Rosi has specific side effects like congestive heart failure (CHF) and redistribution of adipose tissue, leading to weight gain, which is not seen in patients taking other TZDs, such as pioglitazone (Pio) and troglitazone (Trog). All TZDs target PPARγ, a nuclear receptor of which isoform 2 (PPARγ2) is highly expressed in adipose tissue, and isoform 1, PPARγ1, is ubiquitously expressed across many tissues.
