Abstract 2837 In Vivo Analysis of Neuronal Pentraxin Receptor Proteoform-Specific Functions
Neuronal pentraxin receptor (NPTXR) belongs to a family of synaptic organizers known to form disulfide-linked multimers and regulate GluR4-containing AMPA-type glutamate receptors (AMPAR) in parvalbumin (PV)-positive interneurons in the brain. We have recently shown that alternative translation initiation of NPTXR mRNA at either a CUG or an AUG start codon generates a long transmembrane proteoform and a short secreted proteoform, respectively. This study aims to investigate how the long and short NPTXR proteoforms may have distinct functions in vivo.
