Abstract 1713 Nitric-oxide Independent Signaling Through Bacterial Heme-Nitric Oxide or Oxygen Binding Proteins (H-NOX) in Caulobacter crescentus
Caulobacter crescentus is widely recognized as a valuable model organism for exploring the complex mechanics of bacterial cell cycle and replication. The life cycle of C. crescentus is unique for its dimorphic lifestyle, characterized by two morphological forms: the swarmer cell and the stalked cell. These events have been shown to be regulated by signal transduction pathways that effect changes in the cell. Two component signal transduction systems are universal mechanisms that bacteria use to transmit signals in response to environmental changes.
