Abstract 1860 Unraveling the Effects of Cancerous Missense Mutations in the Retinoblastoma Protein
The Retinoblastoma protein (Rb) is a multifunctional tumor suppressor protein found mutated in various human cancers. Rb contains a highly conserved pocket domain that enables it to perform its various biological functions via protein-protein interactions with over 200 proteins. One well-known example of Rb is its role in cell cycle regulation through binding interactions with the E2F family of transcription factors during the G1-S phase of the cell cycle. When Rb is bound to E2F, the cell cycle stops.
