Abstract 2509 Dynamics of Differentially Abundant Proteins Reveals Metal Stress Adaptation in Pseudogymnoascus destructans
Copper is an essential micronutrient that plays critical roles in enzymatic activity, cellular respiration, and oxidative stress defense across various organisms, including fungi. Its dual role as both a vital nutrient and a potential toxin requires precise regulation of copper homeostasis. White-nose Syndrome (WNS) has led to significant declines in hibernating bat populations across North America, highlighting the need to understand the survival strategies and vulnerabilities of Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd), the fungal pathogen responsible for this disease.
